Poorly anchored structures that can be thrown by a strong wind event, fires caused by electrical arcs, panel faults that create hotspots above 200 °C, faulty earthing that can lead to electrocution, or rooftop installations where structural capacity has not been properly assessed and end up collapsing.

And what very few people realise: conventional solar PV installations using Asian technology can be extremely vulnerable from a cyber security standpoint and can be hacked very easily. Once inside, an attacker can not only tell when there is activity from energy consumption, they can also gain a pathway into the company or home intranet, servers, email, customer data, alarms and security systems. The impact ranges from a conventional burglary to extortion via ransomware that encrypts all company or personal data and then demands a ransom.

It is not only about producing energy. It is about doing it with total safety. Because in solar PV, what you cannot see can be the difference between a safe system and a permanent risk.

Risk is not an option

Before we install, we assess the structural capacity of the roof to ensure it can carry the additional load of the solar panels without compromising safety. We also add temperature sensors on connectors to detect early signs of electrical arc events before they can lead to a fire. We work only with robust, secure technology, using highly reliable solar panels and anti-hacking cyber security that meets the highest market standards, protecting the system against criminals. Detection

We spot the issue before it escalates

Safety is not a matter of luck. Ziterion installations are engineered to detect any electrical anomaly in time before it becomes a problem: arc fault detection switches, thermal sensors on connectors to prevent fires, and a system that identifies abnormal voltage spikes and variations in production and temperature, at panel level and in real time. In addition, the technology we use generates automatic alerts and notifications, ensuring continuous 24/7 monitoring.

Mitigation

When a fault occurs, safety acts automatically

When an issue occurs in a conventional solar PV system, even if the inverters are manually shut down via an emergency stop device, the solar panels can still generate up to 800 volts as long as there is daylight. The arc fault risk remains active and can put technicians at risk during maintenance, or firefighters if they ever need to tackle a fire, even if it is not caused by the PV system.

With Ziterion technology, when the system disconnects automatically due to a hazard or is manually shut down during maintenance or repair, voltage in the panel cabling drops to just 1 volt within seconds, eliminating the risk completely.

Certified lifelines for complete peace of mind

Very few companies install permanent certified lifelines on their solar PV installations. Even fewer are officially approved to do so. Ziterion is. We design and install fall protection systems in line with the European EN 795 standard, protecting technicians working on your roof for decades. Without this, any maintenance task can become a serious risk and your company or you as the property owner may be held civilly liable in the event of an accident.
